You have inspired us and supported us more than we ever could have dreamed and because of you this past year has ended up being the most prolific period of our career. To capture all of these creative burst of energy we have recorded a new EP that will be out on April 7th! We have picked 6 songs that we feel will rock your world and instantly become one of your favorite records on your shelf....or ipod list?

We have finished much of the process ourselves but in order to give this project the proper launch that it deserves we have decided to ask our fans for help. We have paired up with a company called Kickstarter that helps unsigned artist raise money for their projects. The way it works is that artist put together a list of packages containing pre released copies of the record, limited edition merch, and other special items and "backers" (that's you) get the opportunity to pick the package they want by pledging to the project. It has been a very successful way of allowing fans to help their favorite indie artist succeed and since we needed a little help we thought we would give it a try!

To start all you need to do is click the link below and watch the video we have created which includes a sneak listen of one of the the new tracks!

Kickstarter Video

For those of you who would prefer to help in other ways, passing this link along to anyone you think would like what we do would be much appreciated. Thanks for helping us make music!

Jared and Dom

BREAKING NEWS:
Dom and I have always made it a point to use our art as a direct extension of our experiences and in that spirit we have chosen to call the EP Drunken Hillbilly Fight Bar to pay homage to the places we feel this collection of songs was best received over the past year. Here's to you 12:00 a.m. gigs!

Our Mission: Be Real Yo

Hello world! The Jesus Rehab have been enjoying life and hopefully you have been too. We wanted to write and give you an update on all of the cool Jesus Rehab related events that you have to look forward too.

In October Dominic was featured in a new music video for his other band Julia Massey and The Five Finger Discount's single "Aghadoe." Jared also made a small cameo so look out for this to hit Youtube in early 2012.

November was a busy month. The Jesus Rehab released our first single which we gave away to everyone! If you would still like to listen to the song or download a copy for yourself it will be available at www.thejesusrehab.bandcamp.com until the end of time (or until someone pays us millions of dollars for the rights. Then you will have to ask them.) We were happy to give away "No More Tears" to our fans as a precursor to the new EP we are working on as we speak. We recorded it with Seattle producer David Miner at the famed London Bridge studios, and we feel the new record will be a fresh sound with a new energy that was not displayed on The Highest Highs and The Lowest Lows. So stay tuned!

The band also headlined the first Pancake Party of the season joined by new friends To The Sea. If you would like to see both performances click the Pancake Party link to be attached to the new YouTube channel now featuring these and many other videos by Pancake Party bands. Subscribe and get notices on new videos!

To finish off the month Jared joined up with Julia Massey and director Andrew Birchall (Aghadoe video) to write the soundtrack for a short film titled "French Maid." Both "French Maid" and the "Aghadoe" video are planned to be released on the same date in early 2012 at a local Seattle theater.

December has been incredible thus far. We have a gig at Le Voyeur in Olympia on Friday December 16th, and another weekend gig at Conor Byrne that we are extremely excited about, along with lots of cool shows with lots of cool bands coming up in the near future. We are also continuing our work on production of the new EP and are working on our KickStarter video, which we are hoping to get out before the new year. There will be lots of awesome reward packages to be had so save some of that Christmas money you got from your Grandparents this year. You won't want to miss out!

In closing here are our next four calendar dates along with upcoming shows for our Pancake Party friends. We hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and we can't wait to see you soon!

Anyways, there have already been some amazing shows this Summer and plenty are still on their way.

Jared and Dom attended composer Shenendoah Davis's cd release on July 29th and confirmed that she is a unique talent mixing serious pop skills and compositional genious, blending Classical Romantic Period piano with Jazz Harmonies and dizzying arrangements. Dom stated that "It sounded like Fantasia man."

Another must see show of the Summer is Dom's other band and fellow pancake partier Julia Massey's Cd Release on August 6th at the Black Lodge. Julia and the gang again worked with Portlandia Producer and local rock phenom Thomas Suprenant to create a record filled with creativity, experimentation, and Julia's signature voice that once again accomplishes a happy sad vibe that only the Five Finger Discount can do right. "Come for the distortion stay for the music" says bassist Geoff B. Gibbs.

The Jesus Rehab have also been playing around town honing their craft in preparation for their first cd as a two piece. The brothers Cortese have been wood shedding in the Cortex all Winter and Spring and have launched a series of show dates including performances at:

Mars Bar/Cafe Venus - July 30th

Hempfest - August 19th

XIY Festival - September 10th

Skylark "Come As You Aren't" - October 29th

The band is very excited to announce that have decided to sign on local producer David Miner for the new record. David is an accomplished Producer/Engineer/Saxophonist that has worked the boards with members from Head Like a Kite and The Black Whales. They are planning on starting preproduction as early as August and tracking in October. Stay tuned for information to come in the near future.

In the meantime make sure to pick up a new Jesus Rehab t-shirt featuring artwork from Lamar Soderstrom and to check out the bands new sound! See you at a show!

Red Heart Alarm has spent the last year touring and perfoming locally to back up their record "White Elephants" which was self-released and self-distributed and has already sold more than a 1000 copies (A monstrous feat in today's current CD market). This album is polished and intelligent yet still fun, poetic, and all around good as hell! It is one of those albums that has no weak song and the bands efforts and talent are apparent on every track. Dominic Cortese drummer of The Jesus Rehab and Julia Massey and The Five Finger Discount has voted this record one of his top of 2010.

Red Heart Alarm is currently playing shows in Seattle and writing songs for their new album scheduled for release in 2011. This is a band that should be treated like an hour of sunshine on a Winter day in Seattle. Time is running out before these guys blow up so go see them in the comfort of your neighborhood bar while you still can!!! Here is their next show:

Jared

What an incredible environment to be a part of. It was much more friendly and accommodating than we expected. Charlie's ended up being a great gig and busking was so fun! There were barely any restrictions on where and when you could play. All music was welcomed, although we did get asked to move by a security guard of a hotel. I was tempted to ask him to pretend like he was putting me in handcuffs to make it dramatic, but in truth he was even really nice!

Along with playing we saw some great music! My favorite shows were by LA based Art Rapper Open Mike Eagle, Nashville Alt Country artist Jessica Lee Mayfield, and of course Julia Massey who totally brought down the house with the best set I have ever seen them play!

A highlight of my trip was definitely meeting Cheryl Waters and Kevin Cole at the KEXP showcase. I was so taken back and star struck at first that I forgot Cheryl's name, but she was so nice she made us all feel comfortable within seconds of talking to her. All in all this was an incredible trip that everyone involved cannot wait to repeat next year. Two Thumbs Up from this Seattleite!

Dominic
Wow! This experience definitely met my exceptions and then some. The show at Charlie's might have been my favorite Jesus Rehab show to date. I really felt like Jared and I hit a stride and never stopped. Highlights from the set for me included "Carry You", "Pleaser", and the wickedly fast "Death To Fred".

Friday ended up being a near perfect day that included a monster breakfast, kicking it with some KEXP dj's, and easily the greatest hip-hop show i've ever seen featuring the one and only Open Mike Eagle. Oh yeah, the fact that it was 86 degrees helped brighten the day as well.

I would say my favorite thing about the experience was how friendly and eager to make connections all the other musicians and industry reps. were. Such a cool thing!

SXSW definitely made it's mark on us, and I'm sure we'll be going back for many years to come.

Following strong sets by fellow Seattle bands Red Heart Alarm and The Brambles, the Jesus Rehab played an hour long set of pure energy.

After hurtling a few untimely obstacles, a broken amp and a sudden need for a bathroom break, the quartet from Ballard immediately grabbed everyone's attention by breaking into fan favorite "If It Feels Good It Is Good." The band never looked back playing a monstrous set complete with heavy hitters "Alone by Myself," "1 Foot on The Floor," and their newest creation "Pleaser." Lead man Jared Cortese was one with the crowd from the get go, inviting attendees to sing, clap, and dance along every chance he got.

Returning bassist Andy Kingham waisted no time in establishing his presence craftily blending the melodic styles of his substitute Geoff B. Gibbs, with the deep grooves and powerful harmonies he is known for. The rhythm section as a whole was on fire highlighted by the precise and creative drumming of Dominic Cortese and the howling tones of Dan Laughin's ivory Fender Jag.

The band finished their set with their ode to their beloved city as everyone in the crowd sang "It wasn't what it was like it was in Seattle," Cortese finishing the phrase in a well earned exhausted moan "But its cold and it hurts like hell."

The band also traded songs with friends Red Heart Alarm playing a song off of their new album "White Elephant" entitled "The Warning," an instant classic. Red Heart Alarm returned the favor by performing a cover of The Jesus Rehab's "Death To Fredd" adding in a "gruntry" flavor all their own to The Jesus Rehab's delight. "That was awesome" expressed Dominic Cortese in response to the performance.

Seattle based artist collective "The Pancake Party" has become a mainstay in the city it proudly hails from, and has been spreading creative energy throughout since 2009. The co-op originated as a fun social event between friends including members of Seattle bands Julia Massey and The Five Finger Discount, The Jesus Rehab, and local hip-hopper Three Ninjas. "The parties were really just about eating pancakes, drinking, and having a good time". explains The Jesus Rehab frontman Jared Cortese, "We just all happened to be musicians so music naturally became intertwined in the festivities."

Since its humble beginnings, The Pancake Party has blossomed into a full-scale assault on the Seattle scene and now includes local artists, web designers, graphic designers, and photographers. "Everyone helps everyone else, has a good time, and gets great exposure" adds Cortese.

So where does one go to expose themselves to "The Pancake Party"? A Pancake Party of course! Recognized by their unmistakable logo (see left), Pancake Parties have become a must see event, each show including at least one member of the co-op, most often teaming up with other local world-class acts to join them in the fun. The co-op says that its goal is simply to "share great art with as many people as possible," and continues "Seattle is such a great community for music and art in general, we are proud to help give a window to the rest of the world what is happening hear in our little corner. Grunge is dead but music is alive more than ever in Seattle!"

To help aficionados further, The Pancake Party has added an artist series to their monthly collection of shows. These events will showcase local artist by inviting fans to coffee shops to listen to their albums for free, chat it up with the artist, hear a live performance, and of course....... eat free pancakes (one with every purchase of a caffeinated beverage)! Cortese concludes "It is really about the art, but who doesn't like pancakes?"

The Jesus Rehab finished the first leg of a string of NW shows Tuesday night @ The High Dive in Seattle, WA. Splitting sets by the sonic rock band Titans of Industry, and blues infused Winston Wolff, lead singer Jared Cortese and the boys ripped through a distortion driven set leaving everything on the stage. The Rehab performed songs from both of their studio albums along with two new incarnations, a groove heavy rock tune called "Pleaser", and a revamped version of the live favorite "Muscles".

Performing in front of a crowd of loyalists, the band seemed energetic and in good spirits. A moment of humor surfaced when guitarist Dan Laughlin jokingly informed the crowd about his frustration with Cortese's habit of adding new material that the band has yet to learn to their sets. "He likes to keep things interesting" Laughlin said as he grinned. The night was polished off by an encore performance of "Running In Place" as the crowd swayed back and forth arm in arm to the 6/8 tempo.

The bands next show is an acoustic set at The Nectar Lounge in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood. They have no later shows scheduled as of yet, but talks of a second leg of Summer shows in late August is in the works. Stay Tuned.

The Jesus Rehab and Julia Massey and The Five Finger Discount kicked off their 2010 tour Wednesday night at The Nectar Lounge in Seattle with special guest Audio Art.

The Five Finger Discount was tight, well rehearsed, and charming as usual featuring a plethora of new toys and sounds adding to their reputation as the pioneers of the Cosmic Folk genre. Julia Massey, dressed in a sporty montage of leggings, bright red running shorts, and a skin tight Mariners shirt, delivered a gutsy set filled with an equal mix of never before heard songs and favorites from their current release "I'm Not Hollow".

The Jesus Rehab continued the momentum, playing a high energy set aimed to please the almost sold out crowd. The Rehab was joined by FFD bassist Geoff Gibbs in place of Andy Kingham, due to travel restrictions. Gibbs' flawless interpretation of Kingham's powerfunk bass lines in songs like "If It Feels Good It Is Good" and "Alone By Myself" quickly won the hearts of even the most loyal fans in attendance. The band truly reached new heights when guitarist Dan Laughlin closed the set during "Death To Fredd" by hoisting himself off of drummer Dominic Cortese's bass drum, flying through the air, and hitting the floor in perfect time with the final hit of the song. Jared Cortese commented on the show saying "It was just an all around great evening. We are so grateful to everyone who came out tonight, and remember....no pinching." The Jesus Rehab are touring in support of their new record as well entitled "The Highest Highs & The Lowest Lows".

Audio Art closed out the evening with an intimate set consisting of songs from their current self titled EP. The Jesus Rehab especially enjoyed the virtuoso piano playing of Tyler Hewett, the powerful strumming of Lewis Kizanis, and the word "cradle".

You can catch The Jesus Rehab and Julia Massey on the next stop of their tour at Sizizis Coffee House in Olympia, WA on Saturday May 22nd.

The Jesus Rehab started off the evening with an acoustic set displaying a side of the band rarely seen. Although they were one member short, the set was dynamic, gutsy, and filled with a combination of creative arrangements and fan favorites that fully displayed the band's range. One of the highlights of the evening was during the song Seattle, where Laughlin led a clapping session with the crowd while Cortese wailed away on the lyrics “It wasn’t what it was like it was in Seattle.” Both bands played on the Rehab's final song of the night called “Reprise.” The song's minimalistic form with intricate melodies, pulsing rhythms, and polychordal harmonies was performed masterfully, and featured Geli Wuerzner on the violin.

The Five Finger Discount immediately followed with a performance leaving nothing to be desired. From the second she took the stage, lead singer Julia Massey had the crowd hanging on her every word. The band started their set with the eerie ballad “Goner” showcasing their ability to take the listener on a soulful journey, while moving through complex key changes, abstract part writing, and intricate picking patterns effortlessly. From there, the rhythm section took over, vamping on a C# minor progression which smoothly transitioned into the catchy and driving “Man Who Could Float.” Massey and her cohorts played through hit after hit from the new album, never skipping a beat. The night was capped off in grand fashion by a 9 minute Opus called “Fruit Tree/Motobong. The medley finished with a succession of high pitch screams, which from from Massey's hallowed pipes mimicked the message of a powerful song bird solidifying to the crowd that they were seeing something very special.

It was truly a night to remember in Seattle.

Bringing THH&TLLs To The Page

To capture the concept of their new album visually, The Jesus Rehab hired Seattle artist Lamar Soderstrom to bring the story of "The Highest Highs & The Lowest Lows" to the page. Soderstrom's illustrations depict the story of the character Jacques, a man fighting to survive the agony of a dysfunctional relationship.
